Why aren't we fighting to keep PE class in our school systems?
Did you know that there is no federal law requiring schools to have a Physical Education program? The funding for such program does not even exist. Most schools are cutting physical education altogether becasue of the lack of money flowing into our school systems. I am a little unsure why our country is removing Physical Education from the school's curriculum. Can somebody please tell me why the "fattest" country in the world would want to remove the one class that focuses on healthy living? Are we the "dumbest" country too? It is said that there needs to be more time to focus on subjects such as math and science because our country behind the rest of the world. In my opinion, we need to figure a way to find a balance. We can't be behind in academic advancement and be the fattest country as well. Our children depend on us to guide them in all aspects of life. Physical Education class is a way for children to release some of their energy in a healthy way that will keep them focused on their learning assignments in the classroom. Without physical education they will not be given the encouragement, support, or the information that can help them maintain a healthy lifestyle. We can not afford to cut this program. It doesn't matter if we excell in math and science if we can't live long enough to do anything with that education. If we are not teaching our children to be healthy and physically active in today's world, then we are just signing their death certificates for them at an early age.
